Looks like what I imagine mine looked like 30 or so years ago... Many moons have passed since then

No rust? I'll believe it when I see it

I know that feel, bro. How's yours doing?

Surprising, but possible! There's gotta be something up with it. That price is way too nice if the car is rust free and in as great of condition as it seems.

It's "ok" haha. The wiring is a disaster thanks to the last owner, and I'm fairly certain it's been in an accident of some degree... On the other hand, I'm swapping in my 5 speed this week and I get to keep remembering that I can fix everything about it, since it's not my D/D

MAN 8K though? I'll be glad if anyone bought this. We need to see more old school JDM around the US. I got mine for 3K for minimal rust (only on the decklid) and a bunch of other goodies :)

There is some lurking under the dogleg or paint somewhere! Rust came with them from Yokohama. My wheels for my 71' get here tomorrow! I think I will get some Toyo tires for them.

Haha you're probably right! There's gotta be some hiding out deep in a wheel well on that car. Post some pictures of your wheels when you get them! So much Z love around Oppo recently. It's amazing.

8K is a hella nice price if it's as rust free as the seller claims. I bought my rusty turd Z for $4,800. If I hadn't bought mine last year, I definitely would have had the money now to snag this one.

SELL THE STANG. BUY THE Z.

Bad idea. Don't take advice from me.

That would be the best and most irresponsible thing I could do...

I am in bed after surgery a couple days ago, but I will have my wife open the boxes. One of my dog legs looked ok but the expert I went to looked at it and found it was going bad inside. He did both sides, welding a fat plate where the old thin one was and did the inner and outer replacement panel, coated and drainage etc.. so its all good. Way stronger than factory. I had surface rust under the battery but it was brushed off and painted, nice tray for the battery. Only thing left is the hatch tailgate, I have the panel to replace it but thats for when I paint it, its all sealed up.

How much did that rust repair run you if you don't mind me asking? My dog legs are shot and will definitely need to be cut out and replaced. Body work is a few years into the future for my car though haha

Luckily my battery tray rust isn't too terrible. Yanked the battery yesterday and hit the rusty area with a wire brush, cleaned it up and rust proofed it. I'm going to need a new tray though.

Well I did it with some other stuff as a package so I'm not sure what it was individually. We felt a few things should be done and I was rebuilding the engine, 5 speed, triple carbs set up right, electronic ignition, all the bushings etc.. so over that time I spent like 10k. Get the battery tray with the drain hose, or better yet get an optima. I bought the car and I intended it to be driveable with that package, we didn't know about the dog leg so he said since he was taking the engine and everything out he would give me a deal with the other stuff. I just got the rear disk kit and the wheels are coming tomorrow. I broke my mustache bar a little while ago and I think it did something, I have a vibration, could be the U joint. But I'm getting the wheels changed first to see if its the old rims and see if its causing something, one is out of round for sure. Then I will take it back to my friend to do the disks and fix anything else going on. I also have a diesel mercedes and the wiper motor is shot, the place its living is fused and its impossible to get out, so when I feel better I have to get it out. Our work is never done! The Z will be better soon and back to being driveable. I can't put any weight on my abdomen right now so I can't use a clutch, hell I can't drive until I get off the pain pills anyway. I wanted a car that could do classic rally events, that was fun to drive, looked sexy and wouldn't cost a fortune in the long run. I don't want a car that will just have issues, the original engine is rebuilt and the 5 speed is great. Its a cool Z, it still has series one parts on it, not the hatch vents but all the other stuff is early Z so it was a good find, I don't plan on selling it. Well my pain pills are kicking in, time to pass out. Thanks for keeping me busy!

You won't find one for less than 20k$ here in Japan... just to give you an idea about the future of that car. I'm personally buying one for myself asap and i don't mind spending quite a bit more than 8k$ for a good one :)

I wouldn't doubt it. I'd assume it's raising due to its rarity value. With mine, I say it's pretty good; triple webbers, 5 Speed Swap from 280ZX, and mileage under 60K original miles all for 3K. I'm boasting because I got it years ago before the boom of this culture and it's a great standpoint because I definitely agree with you on the future of this car. I can't wait for it's successor.

That's not bad bro. Yeah I think prices are raising due to rarity as well.

Is the 5 speed swap a simple plug and play swap or does it require some kind of aftermarket adaptor?
